Have you ever backed out of a workout session fearing a period leak? Adidas has set out to change that. The sportswear brand has launched its Techfit Period-Proof tights, which prevents any leaks during one’s period. The line includes a full length pair and a pair of biker short tights, priced at $90 and $70 respectively.
The high-rise tights are made of 85 per cent recycled polyester and include a 360 degree kinetic construction. What makes them leak proof is the use of a new flow shield technology that includes a set of absorbent layers that come with a leak-proof membrane to help protect from leaks. Designed to be worn with sanitary products like tampons, pads or menstrual cups, the tights come with an invisible layer of protection which is meant to prevent any discomfort as well as leaks during a menstrual cycle.
With the launch of the tights, Adidas is set to compete with leaders in the period-wear space like American brand, Thinx, and Australia-based label, Modibodi. Both brands offer a range of leak-proof clothing as well as period underwear. In India, brands like Adira and Soch offer a range of reusable period underwear.
The brand’s senior product manager of the women’s apparel division, Kim Buerger, said in a statement, “We started designing the product from the inside out. We knew that the tights should be comfortable and breathable, but above all, they had to obey the objective of helping to protect against stains caused by menstruation.”
Both period-proof tights are available in stores as well as on the brand’s website and app.
