With the country in the grips of the second wave of the pandemic, (with experts advising us to gear up for the third wave), the young and old alike have fallen prey to the global killer. Now, the government of Chhattisgarh announced on Thursday that it will fund the education expenses of the children who have lost their parents to COVID-19.
With this in mind, they have launched the Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dular Yojna for such children. Under the scheme, ₹500 per month will be paid to such children between the 1st and 8th standards, and ₹1,000 per month for children in standards 9-12.As per the initiative, children studying in both, government and private schools, will be eligible to this funding, a statement said. If that’s not all, this initiative will also provide funding to children of families that have lost the primary breadwinner to COVID-19. These children will also get priority admission to the state-run Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools.
