In order to raise their children, single parents go through a lot. They endure many obstacles in everyday life as a result of being assessed by peers and relatives. Even schools have been known to refuse admission to children of single parents, particularly mothers. However, no Delhi school can now refuse admission to a child reared by a single parent.
The Delhi government has finally put an end to discrimination by ordering schools not to refuse admission to children with a single parent, which is a significant development.
A statement issued by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday, it was announced, “No school in Delhi shall deny admission to a child on the grounds that the youngster is reporting the name of his or her single parent only.”
The education department also issued a circular in this regard. “All the Heads of Schools of all Managements under DoE are hereby directed to not deny admission to the candidates who have provided data of even one of the parents in the application form when obtaining admission,” it stated.
