The Tribal Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs has announced its initiative to promote Indian tribal arts and crafts across the globe. The Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), a national body under the control of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, is getting ready to set up an Atma Nirbhar Bharat Corner or exhibition space showcasing Indian tribal arts and crafts in 75 countries. The space will include tribal art and craft as well as natural and organic products. Catalogues and brochures showcasing the richness and variety of tribal products will also be a part of the exhibit.
The space will be set up in Indian embassies and missions in the next 90 days. The participating countries include Jamaica, Ireland, Turkey, Kenya, Mongolia, Israel, Finland, France, and Canada, Singapore, Russia, USA, Indonesia, Greece, Cyprus among many others. The first Atma Nirbhar Bharat corner was successfully inaugurated at the Indian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day. TRIFED will also be establishing Atma Nirbhar corners in 75 embassies of foreign countries set up in India.
“As India moves ahead with its strategy for India@75 and focuses on converting development into a mass movement, TRIFED is working with its roots in ground realities and emphasizing the welfare both in design and implementation. With the focus on “Vocal for Local” and building an “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, TRIFED is undertaking several activities, while re-dedicating its efforts towards tribal empowerment,” the Ministry of Tribal Affairs stated in a press release.
Being a national nodal agency, TRIFED works extensively to help market and promote India’s rich legacy of indigenous products like handicrafts, handlooms, and other produce. Its newest initiative aims at increasing awareness and promotion of traditional arts and crafts.
