The Khadi and Village Industries Commission, a government-run body that aims at promoting the development of khadi and village industries in the country, has set out to expand its ever-growing range of products. The range, which already includes clothing, home linen, khadi footwear, beauty products, home paint and more, has recently launched baby wear as well as paper slippers as well.
The new products were launched at Khadi India’s flagship showroom in New Delhi by the Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Narayan Rane, who said in a statement, “Khadi products have huge potential, and aggressive marketing can help create awareness among people. It should be affordable keeping in mind all segments of people. KVIC should explore all possible measures to generate more employment opportunities for youths.”
While the baby wear products, which include clothing sets, are priced at ₹369 - ₹399, the paper slippers are the use-and-throw kind and are priced at ₹50 for each pair. The products are currently available on the KVIC website as well as KVIC’s New Delhi store.
