In a bid to help with COVID relief efforts, Reliance Foundation makes the largest contribution to COVID care in Mumbai by any philanthropic organisation by organising for 875 beds for COVID patients. From these, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital will manage a dedicated 650-bed COVID care facility at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI), Worli, Mumbai. If that’s not all, 100 new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are being made available and set up at the Trident Hotel, BKC, Mumbai, for those patients that have tested positive but are asymptomatic. A total of 125 beds, including 45 ICU beds, are also being organised at Seven Hills Hospital. All patients being treated at NSCI or Seven Hills will receive treatment free of cost.
As part of the ongoing efforts, the foundation will newly create, commission and manage 100 ICU beds that will be made operational in phases from May 15. Moreover, from May 1, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital will manage and operate an almost 550-beds ward, under the supervision of more than 500 frontline workers comprising doctors, nurses, and non-medical professionals that will be deployed for the round-the-clock care and medical need of the patients.
In 2020, the Reliance Foundation collaborated with the BMC to set up India’s first COVID hospital with a dedicated 225-bed facility at Seven Hills Hospital, Mumbai.
